Phlebotomy Review for RNs

In the current healthcare environment, registered nurses may have to perform blood draws for their patients. The purpose of this review class is to give a basic overview of the phlebotomy process with regards to patient safety, proper procedures, and general information regarding the various blood specimen tubes. Under the supervision of the UTC Health Occupations instructors, RNs will be able to execute live draws.

Introduction to Welding
with Mark Richards

Are you interested in Welding as a career? Students with little or no welding experience will learn welding basics, which includes general shop safety practices. Various types of wedling equipment is introduced such as cutting equipment, power tools, and welding equipment operated in shielded metal arc welding, commonly known as stick welding. Students will learn how to create various joint types with emphasis on creating quality welds. Instructor will provide individualized instruction when possible.
Cost includes all welding materials.
Welding Certification Testing not offered at UTC.
WELDING SAFETY APPAREL
All welding students are required to have their own safety glasses, welding cap, welding gloves, welding jacket, welding mask/helmet, and safety boots.

Welding 2
with Mark Richards

Welding 2 builds upon the Introduction to Welding. The course offers further instruction in multiple areas including MIG, TIG, and brazing. Additional time dedicated to allow students to practice their skills in the booths on the various processes.
All welding students are required to have their own safety glasses, welding cap, welding gloves, welding jacket, welding mask, and safety boots.

CNA-M / Certified Nursing Assistant - Medications
with Grace Davis

The CNA-M course affords the basis of understanding needed for experienced certified nursing assistants to administer non-injectable medications accurately and safely to patients 4 years of age or older. The CNA-M performs this complex nursing task, under the direct on-site supervision of licensed registered nurse(s), in long-term care nursing facilities, state mental health institutions, county jails, state correctional facilities, and assistive living settings only.
The State of Maine Board of Nursing approved standardized CNA-M course requires 60 hours classroom instruction/theory, 20 hours skills lab, and 40 hours clinical experience.

Application and all support documentation must be received by April 2, 2021. There will be no exceptions as specific documentation is required to be submitted to the Board of Nursing prior to course start date.
